TEAM Irrigation supplies Nelson Big Guns to the mining industry. We also supply replacement parts and can fully service the Big Guns and other sprinkler systems.
The rugged durability of Nelson Big Gun® Sprinklers makes them a favourite for mining dust suppression. Big Guns are preferred because of the ability to move a large amount of water in a short time. The large nozzle is less likely to plug and the filtration requirements are minimal. All bearings on the gun are sealed ball bearings. Some sprinklers are mounted on high towers in order to throw over the piles. Alternatively, a high trajectory Big Gun sprinkler (fixed 43° and adjustable 15°-45° models available) can achieve the necessary stream height to reduce tower height and clear the top of the piles.
SPECIAL OPTIONS INCLUDE:
• Anodized, Powder Coated, and Stainless Steel Big Guns for sprinkling with corrosive waters.
• Counterbalance kit for operation of the Big Gun with a tilted riser.
• Wedge insert for modified trajectory.
• Heavy-Duty Bronze Brake for operation in environments with airborne, abrasive, dust particles (100 Series only).
Using Big Guns and 800 Series Control Valves in conjunction with the 8200 Controller allows mining operations to automate irrigation for scheduled dust suppression.
Two other mining industry concerns addressed by Nelson products are dust suppression of truck routes and leach mining. Rotator® Sprinklers on portable poly systems with stake and tubing assemblies are a simple fix for wetting down a road. The high uniformity, light application rate of the Rotator keeps dust in check without creating mud bogs. The high uniformity of the S10 Spinner with its gentle, rain-like droplets makes it a great choice for leach mining applications. Please contact your Nelson representative for more information on mining applications, as we have many customizable solutions.

The SRNV100 is the field-proven SR100 with a nozzle valve incorporated. This is a great product that solves many center pivot problems: you can get extra acreage, flush out the system when needed and with no in-line valve there is no friction loss, no turbulence and no plugging. Add-on kits include; - Low-Pressure Drive Vane Kit, Counterbalance Kit, Secondary Nozzle Kit, 12° Wedge Kit and the Stream Straightener Vane. Can be fitted to a QC Valve or 2” 800 Series Control Valve (QC not available for SRNV100).
Connection options include; - 2” FNPT or FBSP, 2 1/2” FNPT ANSI/DIN, Nelson or Euro Flange for the F100 and SR100 - and the 2” FNPT or FBSP for SRNV100.
150 Series Big Gun
The 150 Series is a perfect fit for solid set irrigation, traveler irrigation and dust suppression. Anodized, Powder Coated or Stainless Steel units are available, which makes this a great option for mining or wastewater applications.
